Dr. Kunal Nandy’s journey in the field of Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, and Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology is truly exceptional. With years of expertise, innovative techniques, and a deep commitment to patient care, he has garnered numerous accolades and specialized training in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. Dr. Nandy’s academic prowess is evident from his stellar record, starting with being a rank holder in the highly competitive AIPMT entrance examination and earning his MBBS from the prestigious Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital in Mumbai. His dedication to surgery led him to pursue a Master in General Surgery from the same institute, where he honed his skills and published multiple research papers.
His passion for pancreatic cancer and surgical oncology propelled him to secure an impressive India rank of 20 in the super-specialty entrance examination, leading him to complete an MCh in Surgical Oncology from Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute in Ahmedabad. Here, he gained hands-on experience by independently performing over 1000 cancer surgeries. Dr. Nandy furthered his expertise with a fellowship in Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgical Oncology under Dr. Sandeep Nayak in Bengaluru and the most coveted 2 year Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) fellowship in hepatobiliary, and pancreatic cancer surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. His impressive track record includes major liver resections, gallbladder cancer surgeries, retroperitoneal sarcoma, and numerous Whipple procedures. Continuing his commitment to academic excellence and high-impact research, Dr. Kunal Nandy has joined the Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, Chennai, one of India’s most respected comprehensive cancer centers, to pursue a dedicated academic career. His current focus is on ground-breaking, clinically relevant research in hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers, aimed at improving surgical outcomes, refining risk stratification, and shaping evidence-based practice. Through rigorous research, multidisciplinary collaboration, and mentorship, Dr. Nandy aspires to contribute meaningfully to the next generation of surgical oncology knowledge while translating research insights directly to patient care.
